- 1. Prepare the gelatin: In a large bowl, pour 1/2 cup water and sprinkle the gelatin evenly. Let the gelatin sit for 10 minutes.
- 2. Prepare the syrup: In a small saucepan, add the other 1/2 cup of water and maple syrup. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Increase temperature to medium-high. Stir the mixture until it reaches 240°F on your candy thermometer.
- 3. Combine Gelatin and Syrup: Pour the hot mixture over the gelatin. Use mixture and beat on high speed for 10 minutes or until mixture becomes thick and has tripled in size.
- 4. Add Vanilla: Mix in vanilla extract right before mixture is done.
- 5. Pan: Line your pan with parchment paper. Using a spatula pour the marshmallow mixture into the pan, spread mixture evenly.
- 6. Set: Allow for the marshmallows to set at room temperature for 4-6 hours.
- 7. Cut and Dust: Once the marshmallows have set. Cut them into squares. Dust marshmallows with 1/4 cup of arrow root powder.
